Following in the footsteps of Michelle Collins, Nick Berry, Michelle Gayle and Martine McCutcheon, Eastenders star Joe Absolom has announced he is leaving Britain's most watched television show to work more intently with a musical project.
Absolom, more commonly known as the wrongly sentenced Matthew Rose, decided it was the right time to go. He admitted that he could not leave the show on a better note after keeping viewers enthralled over the last few months.
Absolom's band, 'Hung-Up', have been described of as 'mod' and are named after the Paul Weller song of the same name. Absolom himself places the band's musical style along with that of Weller and Oasis.
According to the NME, Absolom thought the Charlatans, Reef, and The Fun Lovin Criminals were the best bands at this year's Reading Festival. He did not think much of Blur. "They came out and stuck their heads up their own bums for five minutes and went back in."
Upon the news of their young actor's departure, the Eastenders producers were full of praise and promised to keep his part open.
We await the material.
